Don knows first-hand that mobility is a key factor for self-confidence as his father was a Vietnam Veteran. Unfortunately he was wheelchair bound in his 40's due to severe heart attacks and strokes, most likely due to Agent Orange exposure. Following in their father’s footsteps to serve, Don became a police officer, one of his brothers is a United States Army veteran, and another is a USMC veteran!

Don obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. He has spent his career, over the last 20 years, in security management and commercial real estate, and has been instrumental in protecting many of today’s Fortune 500 Companies’ assets, team members, and clients.

After leaving full-time law enforcement, Don spent many of his early security management years protecting Simon Property Group’s major assets in Florida. As a Director of Security, Don was responsible for the security management for the 6th largest mall in the United States, Sawgrass Mills. During this time, he was responsible for protecting the top tourist destination in South Florida with over 35 Million Visitors Annually.

During Don’s career he had the fortunate opportunity to lead in the commercial real estate space. He worked for Simon Property Group and Washington Prime Group as a General Manager for multiple enclosed shopping centers in Katy, TX, and Aurora, CO. He served on numerous boards while in these roles, i.e. Katy Economic Development Authority, City of Katy Visitor and Tourism Board, YMCA, Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Rotary President, etc.

With the pull of family to come back home to Houston, Don became the top leader for a $55 Million Dollar Branch for Allied Universal (AUS). With over 1500 employees, Don and his team were responsible for the safety and security of some of the best well-known brands in the world, i.e. ExxonMobil, McKesson, Apple, Kroger, HEB, Peloton, Howard Hughes, National Oilwell Varco, etc. While in this role, Don oversaw the Houston acquisition and integration of 3 major purchases for AUS.

Don is proud to serve as the National Director of Retail Security for GardaWorld. In his role, Don is honored to be the Subject Matter Expert for all of the security needs for Retail clients throughout the United States. With extensive experience in Mall and Retail Security, Don combines that with his love of technology to meet clients needs from coast to coast and working with first responders all over the country!
